The Marilyn Monroe Collection
by Scott FortnerUSUnited States
The Marilyn Monroe Collection is Scott Fortner's extensive private archive devoted to preserving the personal and professional history of Marilyn Monroe. Assembled over more than 25 years, it encompasses film costumes, personal clothing and accessories, furs, cosmetics, books from Monroe's own library, working scripts, photographs, correspondence, financial records, receipts, household possessions and objects dating back to her childhood. Among its most significant pieces are the cowgirl boots worn in The Misfits, a costume from The Prince and the Showgirl, the green Pucci blouse worn in the final photographs taken of Monroe during her lifetime, her first fur, personal working scripts for Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and How to Marry a Millionaire, her childhood Kodak camera and her final Screen Actors Guild membership card. The collection combines highly recognizable Hollywood artifacts with everyday documents and possessions that provide a detailed record of Monroe's life beyond her public image. Selected objects have been exhibited extensively in the United States and internationally, including major museum exhibitions in London, Paris and Los Angeles.
