Mendenhall Museum of Gasoline Pumps and Petroliana
by Jack MendenhallUSUnited States
The Mendenhall Museum is a long-established private collection devoted to petroliana, motoring and American racing history. Started more than fifty years ago by Jack Mendenhall and continued today by his son Mark and daughter-in-law Vickie, the collection includes vintage gasoline pumps, pump globes, porcelain gas, oil and road signs, service-station equipment, license plates, race cars and an extensive range of racing memorabilia and related antiques. Displayed in a dedicated private museum in California's Santa Ynez Valley, the collection preserves the visual and material culture associated with American motoring and roadside fuel distribution.
