David's Calculating Sticks
by David RanceNL
Netherlands
David's Calculating Sticks is David Rance's collection of slide rules, slide charts and mechanical calculating aids, assembled over many years and presented through a non-commercial website created as a virtual display cabinet. The collection ranges from conventional engineering slide rules to highly specialised instruments designed for aviation, medicine, retail, military applications, photography and numerous trades. By March 2026, more than 1,750 objects had been individually uploaded, representing around 90% of the physical collection. Rance combines detailed photographs of the objects with historical research and articles on their makers, design and practical uses.
