Bei Nacht Postcards is Tilo Frank's highly focused personal collection of novelty postcards depicting destinations “by night”, typically through almost entirely black images accompanied by the name of a city, region or tourist attraction. Frank began collecting the cards in 1991 and first published the collection online in 1996. What started with a handful of postcards grew to 500 examples by 1996, 1,000 by 2008, 2,000 by 2019 and reached 3,000 cards in May 2026. The website catalogues individual cards while also documenting publishers, design variations, geographical distribution and the evolution of this peculiar postcard tradition.
