Air Sickness Bag Virtual Museum

by Steve SilberbergUSUnited States

The Air Sickness Bag Virtual Museum is Steve Silberberg's private collection of air sickness bags, begun in the early 1980s after he saved a United Airlines bag during a flight from Boston to San Francisco. The collection now contains more than 3,700 examples, primarily from airlines but also from ships, trains, films, videogames, political campaigns and other contexts. Published online since 1997, the archive documents changes in airline identity, typography, graphic design and the surprisingly varied forms taken by this overlooked disposable object.
